Luncheon Meeting - Russ Collins, CEO of Michigan Theater - Vaudeville to Vivaldi, and "How to Watch a Movie"

08/11/2010 - 12:00
08/11/2010 - 1:30pm

Built as a vaudeville and silent movie palace, the Michigan Theater originally was known as a “Shrine to Art.” It’s still that, and then some. Occupying a central place in Ann Arbor’s cultural landscape with its gloriously restored 1,700-seat auditorium and 200-seat screening room, the Theater is still a movie palace. But it’s also the performance home (since 1984) of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra and hosts many University Musical Society events and other concerts. Our own Russ Collins will hit the historical highlights, give us a preview of 2010-11 offerings, and at no extra charge will provide guidance on “how to watch a movie.” Popcorn, anyone?
