In partnership with Stone School, sometimes referred to as "last chance high," the Ann Arbor Rotary STRIVE Program helps turn young lives around. Stone School provides a new opportunity for these students to focus, be successful in school, and get their high school diplomas. The program provides a unique structure, incentives, and motivation to help Stone seniors accomplish these life-changing objectives. During the year the committee gives the STRIVE students incentives, such as theatre passes, restaurant certificates; bus passes, etc., and takes them to area companies to observe first-hand what the work-a-day world is like (STRIVE at Work) and to encourage them to continue their progress. At the end of the year, the committee gives about $12,000 in scholarships to 8-10 top students at an awards banquet.  The scholarships, to Washtenaw Community College, are based on the highest and most improved grade points. In addition, members of the committee become Rotary mentor-partners to encourage individual students to go to WCC and continue their path to success.

The STRIVE Committee interacts with selected Stone School students, the Principal, and Guidance Counselor as well as other members of Rotary, who support the incentive program, serve as luncheon hosts when the students are introduced and honored at regular club meetings. Many also enjoy attending the scholarship banquet at the end of the school year.
