Rollin' Against Polio Comes to Ann Arbor

R.I. Director Jennifer Jones and a team of Rotarians rolled into Ann Arbor on August 5 ready to inspire our Club and our Campus to beat polio. Shouting "We Are Rotary," about 85 members and guests marched across campus, stopping along the way to describe Rotary's long and highly effective eradication efforts. The march ended under the bronze plaque in the Rackham Building that commemorates Jonas Salk's 1955 announcement at the University of Michigan of his development of the first successful polio vaccine.

New President...but what about that shirt...

Welcome President Ashish, who charted the active framework course for the new Rotary year for the Club's membership on July 1. Celebration, commerations, volunteer opportunities, fellowship, fun--Read the details in the July 6 Harpoon. And, if you are curious about that "unusual" blue shirt, read all about it here.

We're So Proud

The Ann Arbor Public Schools extended a well-deserved honor to our Emeritus member, Scott Westerman. Henceforth, its Preschool and Family Center will be known as the Dr. W. Scott Westerman, Jr. Preschool and Family Center. Scott worked at the Ann Arbor Public Schools from 1960 to 1971 and served as superintendent from 1967 to the end of his career with the district when he moved to EMU, eventually becoming Dean of the School of Education. Congratulations, Scott! You've made us very proud!

A Salute to our Emeritus Members!

Congratulations to Bob Kerry, you are our Club's newest Emeritus member. Here Lois Jelneck presents the honor and in the background Emeritus member Al Storey looks on with other Rotarian well-wishers. To read Ed Wier's remarks in Bob's honor, and those of all of our Emeritus members, click here.
